What Is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
Our event is called TEDxNewCairoSTEMYouth, where the x means independently organized. At our TEDxNewCairoSTEMYouth event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events including ours are self-organized.

How It All Began
We began with a simple belief: If all that surrounds you seems to be dark, maybe because you are the light.
In moments where many students feel lost or uncertain, we see something different — a hidden light waiting to be discovered. Inspired by the idea that without darkness, light has no meaning, we created TEDxNewCairoSTEMYouth as a space for that light to emerge.
Here, ideas illuminate paths, and voices inspire change. This is where luminous darkness becomes reality.
